  • Organoid Generation and Characterization
    • Organoid culture allows normal and cancer cells from the same human patient to be grown indefinitely in vitro or readily recovered following cryopreservation. Organoids grow in a 3D matrix and can spontaneously generate mini organs that mimic in vivo tissue structure. Practical advantages of patient derived organoids versus standard 2D cell lines or xenografts include a high rate of successful establishment, high genetic stability, and low cost. Organoid cultures provide a renewable source of individual patient material, both normal and cancer, which can be used for prospective or retrospective molecular characterization, functional analysis, or screening.
