OmniSeq, Inc., a subsidiary of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and LabCorp, is seeking a MD/DO-licensed Molecular Pathologist, licensed to practice medicine in New York State or with the ability to obtain a NYS license. The applicant will serve as assistant laboratory director for a CLIA CAP-accredited and NYS state-of- the-art next generation sequencing (NGS) laboratory.
The applicant will have the opportunity to sign out multiple types of NGS assays, including both DNA-seq and RNA-seq, certain single analyte tests, as well as participate in the development of future assays. Clinically, the current need is to actively participate in both genomic and immune-oncology NGS solid tumor profiling assays that support physician decision making for both targeted therapies and immunotherapies. From a translational perspective, there is significant opportunity to participate in R&D of future NGS assays that will allow for high impact publications as well as multiple speaking opportunities.
The applicant will participate in clinical sign-out, including pre-analytical workflows such as tissue QC, as well as contribute to the development of a translational biomarker program with an emphasis on both genomics and immunology. Opportunities exist for collaborative research with other clinicians and basic scientists at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and OmniSeq’s other research partners. Responsibilities include recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Laboratory Director, assuring competency of all personnel, formulating the budget for the laboratory, maintaining performance improvement activities within the department and participating in QA/QC/PT activities and maintaining efficient and effective departmental operations in compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Responsible for assisting in the overall operation and administration of the laboratory. Provide effective and efficient administrative direction of the laboratory, including budget planning, and controls in conjunction with other laboratory supervisory staff.
The Assistant Laboratory Director, as designated by the laboratory director, must be accessible to the laboratory as needed for on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation and is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory. The Applicant will work with the Laboratory Director on planning, managing and directing laboratory operations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. The applicant will make daily rounds in Laboratory to judge effectiveness of operation, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere and work with the Laboratory Director on Laboratory licensure and accreditation. The applicant must ensure that the laboratory is enrolled in a proficiency testing program(s) that are appropriate for the testing performed within the laboratory inclusive of PT test review and corrective action as required.
Candidates must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology as well as have or be immediately eligible for New York State full licensure (MD/DO) and New York State Certificate of Qualification in Oncology (molecular and cellular tumor markers). Certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology, or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG), is preferred, but not required.
Candidates with molecular pathology fellowship training, prior experience in molecular diagnostics, and/or experience or training in next generation sequencing for cancer testing will be given preference.
Experience with Laboratory Information Systems, LIMS and informatics solutions preferred.
Position is designated on-site and not available as remote.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S., as sponsorship is NOT available.
